Frente Cumbiero announces Fuji Rock, Womex and Mexico

Frente verano

June 14th, 2018

As it is usual every year, Europe will host the World Music Expo (WOMEX) during the month of October. This year, the massive exhibition will be held in Gran Canaria (Spain), and it incidentally brings us very gratifying news: Frente Cumbiero, one of our house’s most ambitious bets of 2018, is part of the select showcase lineup that will be exhibited at WOMEX 2018. Within the first (of 6) round of announcements, artists such as Uji (Argentina), Ladama (Venezuela, Brazil, USA and Colombia) Guiss Guiss Bou Bess (France / Senegal), and another 13 projects from the entire planet, were also included.

The project led by Mario Galeano, and recently reinvented as the quartet in which it was originally conceived, will land in Spanish lands after a rather hectic summer, that includes important dates, among which an unprecedented appearance at Fuji Rock festival in Naeba, Japan is certainly the biggest highlight. In addition, 2018 awaits a wave of new material, as a prelude to what would be a follow-up to the acclaimed Frente Cumbiero Meets Mad Professor (2011).

WOMEX will be held in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on October 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th and 28th of 2018. Check out the first part of the official showcase selection below:
